GAITHERSBURG, MD, USA, September 17, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Gaithersburg Economic Development, the State of Maryland’s Department of Commerce and the Technology Development Corporation of Maryland (TEDCO) helped organize a cybersecurity panel for small and medium sized business owners.

Top cybersecurity experts from the University of Maryland's Center for Health and Homeland Security and Maryland-based cybersecurity firms have banded together to help protect local businesses from hacking. That was the hot topic at a panel discussion yesterday hosted by Launch Workplaces and sponsored by local and state economic development professionals.

Major themes included the importance of protecting clients and the supply chain. In the words of one panelist, "You're only as strong as your weakest link." Panelists said cybersecurity protocol requires continual scrutiny and updating.
