As of Thursday morning, law enforcement agents in the South American nation have arrested eight suspects for the savage lynching.
General Tanya Valera, the police commander for the 8th District, expects the number of apprehensions to increase in the coming days, according to Ecuavisa.
According to El Universo, about 15 to 20 of the attackers have been identified.
The furious group converged outside a precinct in the small town of Posorja in Guayaquil on Tuesday afternoon after rumors had spread that the two men and a woman who had been jailed had been kidnapping kids.

When the mob showed up at the station house, policemen there repeatedly explained that the trio had been detained after they were accused of stealing $200 and a cellphone.
However, the crowd grew as people were not completely convinced by the explanation given by officers at the Porsoja station house.
The livid group overwhelmed the small staff of cops and started throwing Molotov cocktail bombs at the precinct.
The mob stormed inside the station and dragged the three scam suspects to the street.
The two men and the woman, whose identities were not provided, were repeatedly beaten before they were set ablaze.
The upset crowd also burned a police car, a taxi and five motorcycles.
The women who filed the theft report have been placed under a victim's protection program after facing various threats.
