Birmingham’s Pavilion test centre is the worst place in Britain to take your driving test.

New data from the DVLA shows only 303 of the 1,004 candidates who took their practical test there in 2017-18 were successful.

That is a pass rate of 30.2 per cent, BirminghamLive can reveal.

Worryingly, that rate is far below the national average of 46.3 per cent.

It is also the worst in Britain.

The best was Lower Gornal in Dudley, where 4,861 of 9,947 candidates were successful during the financial year.

That is a pass rate of 48.9 per cent.

In Birmingham (Shirley) it was 44.9 per cent, in King’s Heath 41.9 per cent, and in Coventry 40.5 per cent.

It just gets worse from there.
