Prince William could not resist taking a Triumph motorbike for a spin despite Kate saying that his hobby fills her with 'horror'.

The duke previously admitted that his passion for motorbikes was cast aside as he focused on his growing family, but while on a Triumph Motorcycles tour in Hinckley today, he found himself unable to say no to a ride.

Putting on a helmet and leathers, the 35-year-old got the chance to test drive the latest Triumph Tiger 1200.

After whizzing down the road he got off the bike and said the ride had been "very nice" although "not long enough".

But although he has loved bikes from a young age - together with his brother Harry - last year William said he was putting the sport on hold.

When Superbike champion Jonathan Rea was awarded his MBE at Buckingham Palace he said he discussed bikes with the prince adding: "We talked about his bikes and the fact that he has put it on the back-burner because of his children."

Kate has also said the idea of her husband riding a motorcycle filled her with "horror".

Speaking to a well-wisher in Scotland in October 2015 she said: "He's still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it.

"I'm terrified. hopefully, I'm going to keep George off it."

The duke was touring the largest British motorcycle manufacturer in Leicestershire which builds 67,000 bikes a year.

During the tour he visited the new £6 million paint shop and also placed a badge on one of the bikes in production.

And after his exciting test-drive he then officially opened the visitor experience centre.
