A 48-year-old Israeli tourist, named as Yosef Nunu, was killed in an accident in Ayia Napa on Saturday.

The police said Nunu was riding his quad bike along Kryo Nero street in Ayia Napa at around 1.45pm, with his 49-year-old wife, also from Israel, riding pillion.

About 50m from Cavo Greco avenue, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, hit the curb and overturned in a ditch.

The driver was fatally wounded, the police added.

His wife was taken by ambulance to Famagusta general hospital, where she was admitted with various fractures.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 17 fatal accidents with 17 fatalities.
