BMW has unveiled the R 1300 RT, which has received significant updates compared to the model it replaces — the R 1250 RT. The motorcycle is the latest in the 1300 segment to get an update and the touring motorcycle gets a host of mechanical and cosmetic updates. Here are the details.
BMW R 1300 RT — What are the updates?
The updated tourer from BMW is underpinned by a new chassis, a sheet metal unit that replaces the trellis frame, making the motorcycle lighter than the model it replaces. That said, the design has also seen an update, and the motorcycle seems to be designed around the radar system, which has seen BMW take an innovative approach.
The motorcycle sees the headlight and DRL go sleeker. This has also resulted in the fairing seeing an update while the rear section looks more slimmer. Overall, the design has had major tweaks but has the identical design language of the RT models.
Sticking to the electronics bit, the new R 1300 RT gets a host of updates that include the ride modes from the previous mode along with Dynamic and Dynamic Pro ride modes. The motorcycle also gets radar-based cruise control with blind spot detection, and forward and rear collision warning.
In terms of features, the R 1300 Rat gets a Tafat instrument console, speakers for audio, and navigation. Powering the motorcycle is the 1300cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 145bhp and 149Nm of peak torque mated to a six-speed gearbox. The new BMW R 1300 RT is expected to go on sale in India soon.
