Delhi: Motorcycle rider ‘slips’ on pothole, dies of head injuries

A 37-year-old man was found unconscious with a severe head injury after his motorcycle allegedly slipped on a pothole near a traffic light close to Hamdard Hospital on the Mehrauli-Badarpur road on Monday night. He was later declared dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre, said police.

According to police officers, a PCR call regarding the incident was received at Tigri police station. On reaching the spot, authorities found the injured man, Rashid Khan. His motorcycle and helmet were found nearby.

A case was registered against unknown persons under BNS sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence), and further investigation is underway, said police. “From our initial investigation, we discovered that the deceased probably slipped while riding his motorcycle over a large pothole on the road,” said a police source.

The PWD did not respond when contacted for comment.
