The Margaret Island Open Air Theater is preparing for the 2024 season, running from May 19 to September, with a line-up of Hungarian and world stars, premieres, and exclusive productions, reports Magyar Nemzet.

“We are preparing about a hundred events, including major theater performances, thematic days, holidays, children’s days, jazz and wine festivals, Caribbean days, and children’s performances and exhibitions on Saturday and Sunday mornings in the historic Water Tower,” Teodóra Bán, the theater’s executive and artistic director, stressed at a press conference about the program. She noted that on May 19, Pentecost Sunday,

the season will open with the rock opera Gospel of Mary, which will be performed by a new cast.

Before the evening performance, families are invited to a full-day family event in and around the Margaret Island Theater.

Among the main stage performances will be a special production of Jonathan Tetelman’s opera The Great Puccini and a concert by world-renowned violin virtuoso Nemanja Radulović, a performance by Portuguese singer Lura, and a ballet performance of Swan Lake by Ballet Preljocaj.
