Partner of murdered man dies suddenly in her home

Catherine Danaher, whose partner Andrew 'AOD' O'Donoghue was killed in 2015, was found dead in her home on Wednesday.

Ms Danaher had spoken of her heartache following the death of her beloved partner who was described as a "hero" during the trial following his death.

The couple had been together since their teens and had one daughter together.

Fr Loughlin Brennan, parish priest of Murroe-Boher, described Ms Danaher as an “absolute lady”.

Speaking to the Limerick Leader Fr Brennan said the popular mum will be missed by "all who knew her".

“I hope that she is at peace now. She was very popular in the parish. A lot of people helped her in the last two years since she lost her partner. Br Ciaran in Glenstal was very good to and the bikers in the Road Tramps were excellent. Catherine will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her. May she rest in peace,” said Fr Brennan.

Fr Brennan declined to comment further when contacted by Independent.ie.

Ms Danaher paid tribute to her partner after his death and said  his "whole life was based around making me happy".

“He was my life. He was quiet, lovable and kind. His whole life was based around making me happy. If he saw me smiling he was happy. He was a wonderful provider for me and Ava. I was robbed of a lovely future. I look at elderly couples together and I was robbed of that. I’ve never been with anyone else. All I have is my lovely memories of him,” said Ms Danaher.

Earlier this year Alan 'Cookie' McNamara, a 51-year-old from Mountfune, Murroe, Co Limerick was jailed for life in relation to the murder. He shot Mr O'Donoghue at the gates of the Road Tramps motorcycle club at Mountfune on June 20, 2015.

A garda spokesperson confirmed that Ms Danaher's death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Murroe Gardai found the body of a woman in her home, who was pronounced dead at scene at 9.15am," a spokesman said.

A post-mortem will be carried out in Limerick Hospital.
