Triumph Motorcyles earler this week launched its Street Triple RS, which it said is “the most explosive, agile and intuitive performance street motorcycle Triumph has ever made”.

One look at the spec sheet and you might want to agree. The sleek-looking motorcyle, with twin headlamps that somewhat make it look like a mean hornet ready to take flight, is powered by a 765 cc engine that is derived from Triumph Daytona, the British motorcycle-maker’s racing machine.

Tearaway power

The mill churns out a massive 123 PS of peak power at 11,700 rpm and a peak torque of 77 Nm at 10,800 rpm. The new ride-by-wire throttle supports five riding modes, which adjust throttle response, ABS and traction control settings. The riding modes are — Road, Rain, Sport, Rider Programmable and Track.

To make it easier for riders who want to flit through roads and highways, the new Street Triple RS comes with a quickshifter that allows clutchless upshifts. The motorcycle is fitted with Showa big piston 41mm front forks, which are adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping. The rear suspension consists of a premium Öhlins STX40 piggyback reservoir monoshock unit.

The Street Triple RS also gets a new full colour adjustable TFT instrument cluster with three screen display styles to pick from. It displays average and instantaneous fuel consumption, range to empty, riding mode selection, display style and contrast settings, service information, coolant temperature, etc. It is available in two colours — Matt Silver Ice or Phantom Black at ₹10,55,000 (ex-showroom across India).
