VANDERBURGH COUNTY -- A man on a motorcycle was killed Wednesday on Big Cynthiana Road when he crossed the center line and collided head on with a tractor-trailer.

Wreckage from Wednesday morning's accident

Just after 9 a.m., Vanderburgh County Sheriff's deputies and Scott Township Fire Department responded to a motorcycle crash. On scene, they found a man lying in the grass alongside the roadway.

Witnesses told deputies that the man was heading south and attempted to pass another vehicle. The man did not have enough room to complete the pass and crashed into a southbound tractor trailer.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the wreck, but the driver of the semi did consent to a post-crash blood draw. Indiana state law requires blood alcohol tests in all motor vehicle accidents that result in serious bodily injury or death.

The man's name will be released once his family has been notified.
