CAF begins inspection as Kenya reaffirms readiness

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has kicked off a three-day inspection tour in Kenya to assess the country’s preparedness for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania this August.

During a high-level meeting with the visiting CAF delegation, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, reaffirmed the country's full commitment to implementing all CAF recommendations and delivering a world-class football tournament.

“We welcome the support that CAF has accorded Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania during this critical preparation period,” said CS Mvurya.

“I want to assure CAF that Kenya is ready, and we have aligned our systems to fully support CAF in delivering a stellar event.”

The CAF team, led by Pierre Alain Mounguengui, CAF 3rd Vice President and President of the CHAN Organizing Committee, is inspecting key infrastructure and logistical arrangements in Kenya.

CS Mvurya also revealed that the three co-hosting nations are making steady progress in discussions to ease movement across borders for fans, athletes, and officials during the tournament.

“The countries have progressed well in mobility discussions aimed at removing logistical bottlenecks... We will be updating CAF soon with feedback on the decisions reached by our respective governments,” he added.

Mounguengui commended the host nations' commitment and urged all stakeholders to expedite the completion of remaining infrastructure works to ensure readiness ahead of the August kick-off.

CHAN tournament, which will kick off from August 2nd to 30th this year, is expected to attract thousands of fans and participants. It presents a major opportunity for the East African region to demonstrate its ability to host international sporting events while deepening regional cooperation in sports development.
