Man killed in motorcycle crash on Maui identified

HAIKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Maui man who died after a motorcycle crash in Haiku has been identified by police.

Police say 64-year-old Dean Line Sr. of Kahului was thrown off his motorcycle when it crashed into a guardrail on West Kuiaha Road, near Nahe Road.

The accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.

Line Sr. was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. It's not yet known if drugs or alcohol were factors.

This is Maui County's 17th traffic fatality of the year. At this time last year, there were 23 fatalities.
